Routine Care
As we find out more and more how essential our oral health is to our overall health, it’s no wonder we recommend seeing a dental team every 6 months. Routine care will consist of X-rays, a cleaning, and checkup from the dentist. As simple as this sounds, it’s a dynamic approach that will ensure a healthy smile for many years.
Digital X-rays
A digital radiograph, or x-ray, is a technology in dentistry that allows us to view the hard tissues, mainly your teeth, bone, and existing dentistry. Better yet, digital dentistry maintains a lower dose of radiation with a higher level of accuracy and imaging, thus enhancing the care you receive and awareness of your health.
Cone beam CT
Dental X-rays have come a long way, and one of those ways is through cone beam computed tomography. Very similar to a CT scan in medical facilities, this technology uses a lower dose of radiation, while capturing high quality imagery in a three dimensional perspective. Having such a diagnostic tool aids in the overall approach to your care.
Preventive restorations
Sealant
When we fix our eyes on our beautiful California landscape, at times we can see canyons and crevices between mountains and foothills. Our teeth have very similar features. These features are called developmental grooves. Some may be shallow, while some may be deep and even communicating below the enamel. The latter circumstances pose risk for hygiene concerns and thus decay. By placing a filling material over these deep grooves, we can seal the canyons and crevices and prevent food and plaque build up, thus making it easier to keep clean and prevent decay.
Preventive Resin Restorations
Preventive resin restorations (PRR) are not quite a sealant, but not quite a conventional filling. Decay always starts off limited and minor, but nevertheless has the potential for becoming a serious problem. When caught soon enough, a PRR allows us to prevent this decay from progressing while preserving a great amount of tooth structure and the tooth’s overall integrity.
