Technology and Materials

Same Day Crown

There are many offices offering same day crown treatment. With this comes a special technology called CAD/CAM. By using a computer aided design software that scans the tooth, we can fabricate the crown “in-house” using a computer aided manufacturing machinery. These crowns achieve everything we look for in regards to strength, function, and esthetics. The benefits to this technique are no messy impressions, no temporary crowns, dentist controlling the design of the restoration, and the patient only has to make one visit. All things considered, the same day crown has made dentistry much more accessible for patients trying to find time to take care of their dental needs.

CBCT

Dental X-rays have come a long way, and one of those ways is through cone beam computed tomography. Very similar to a CT scan in medical facilities, this technology uses a lower dose of radiation, while capturing high quality imagery in a three dimensional perspective. Having such a diagnostic tool aids in the overall approach to your care.

Tricalcium Silicate

Medicine is always finding the “Holy Grail” materials and their compatibility with the body. Of such materials that have reshaped dentistry are bioceramics, which contains tricalcium silicate. This material is extremely versatile in its use as it is rarely rejected by our body, is antimicrobial, binds strongly to our tooth structures, hardens in wet environments, and expands to ensure proper seal. The most common use is during root canal treatment or in the healing of a tooth’s pulp (nerves and blood vessels).
